Reality Store

The Greater Beloit Chamber hosts The Reality Store.

This is an annual event held in May at Beloit Memorial High School.

Every year over 400 students participate in this event that gives them a sense of fiscal responsibility.

Students—

choose an occupation, are given a salary, and must budget their finances in order to manage their virtual lives.

Some examples include:

  • Purchasing a car
  • acquiring daycare
  • buying groceries
  • even a booth where “fate” is handed to them.

They receive a checking account and checkbook from the bank and receive a credit card.

Learning takes place for both students and business owners.

The Greater Beloit Chamber seeks local business leaders to volunteer at this event and to interact with the students.

Businesses have the opportunity set up their own booth.

This event provides a great connection between the local business community and its future workforce.
