Government Affairs Advisory Council
This Council supports the GBCC’s advocacy function by providing “access and information” to members and the community at large related to local, state and federal legislative issues.

The GAAC coordinates opportunities throughout the year for interaction with municipal leaders, elected officials, candidates for public office and representatives from various government agencies.

Among other issues, the GAAC advocates for businesses in terms of: health care, workforce development/educational programs, branding, public safety, job attraction and retention, regional economic development and infrastructure.

At times, this council partners with other organizations including but not limited to the NAACP and Women’s League of Voters. The GBCC Government Affairs Advisory Council meets on a monthly basis

Business Education Council

GBCC Business and Education Council

This Council is all about workforce development in Rock County. 

The Business/Education Partnership Committee is comprised of GBCC Members and staff, GBEDC Investors and staff and Educators (public and private sector) from throughout Greater Beloit. 

One co-chairperson represents the GBEDC and one represents the GBCC.

The duties and responsibilities of this committee are to work with educational and workforce development agencies in continuing existing and developing new programs for the purpose of building a skilled and professional labor force, and to recommend new educational programs to meet the needs of new businesses, and the needs of changing technology. 

Some examples include: The “Reality Store” the Mock Interview Program, and the Career Fair. 

This Council meets on a monthly basis.

Entrepreneurship and Business Development

Small Business ExpoThis committee sponsors and supports opportunities to help small businesses prosper in the Greater Beloit area. These efforts might include expos, seminars and other outlets for increased sales as well as recognition of the importance and excellence of small business within the Greater Beloit Community. This committee meets approximately once every month.

Special Events

Business After HoursThis committee works with Chamber staff and leadership to plan and execute events that the Chamber hosts such as the Annual Dinner, Gulf Classics, and Business After Hours. New ideas for Chamber events are welcomed and evaluated. The Annual Dinner subcommittee meets several times in the months leading up to the annual dinner which is held in February or March. Soliciting sponsors and event planning are the major responsibilities. The Golf Classic subcommittee meets several times in the month leading up to the Golf Classic which is held in September. Soliciting sponsors and event planning are the major responsibilities.


GBCC MembershipThis committee, partnering with the Ambassador Club Membership Committee and staff, supports membership retention and recruitment. Membership materials and benefits are coordinated with the Board of Directors. The Membership Committee may help staff answer questions related to membership and to evaluate new and existing programs and benefits, develop marketing materials and find ways to articulate and add value to chamber membership.
